More than any thing else, Nepal is famous for its mountains, & Peaks. Nowhere else in earth you can find such a place with high snow capped peaks and have the opportunity to climb some of the highest peak in the world. Of course, Everest immediately comes to your mind when you think of Nepal but what is less often known is that Nepal is home of other seven peaks over 8000 meters and numerous other between six and eight thousand meters. Currently more than 326 peaks in Nepal are available for expeditions with an additional 33 minor Nepal climbing peaks being designated as "Trekking Peaks in Nepal". Ranging between 18 & 22,000 ft, application must be made through the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) for a special permit for those trekking. A fee is payable based on the size of your group and the 'group' of the peak involved. In recent years, it has become considerably easier to plan a trekking peak, as the application process has been modernized. We have given detailed of 4 trekking peaks here. To climb you need to have of knowledge of ice-axe, crampons and rope usage. You must also be in good physical condition. Many of the peaks are over 6,000m, and at this point of heights, you should be prepared for very cold temperatures, bad weather and the increased risk of altitude sickness. On the plus side, standing astride a Himalayan peak with friends is an exhilarating experience which more than compensates for the more extreme conditions.
Climbing Groups are limited to a maximum size of 12, and the group is led by experienced guides registered with the NMA. The route is particularly planned to make sure of your safety and your best chances of success. Training will be given on climbing skills where a basic understanding of climbing principles is required before attempting a peak.
